A pedestrian was killed last Thursday evening near the Miami-Dade College medical campus when a driver struck the man in an intersection. Miami police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. It was about 7:20 p.m. last Thursday when the man, believed to be in his 40s, was in the intersection of Northwest Seventh Avenue and Northwest 20th Street in Miami. It was at this time that a driver struck the man.
Miami Fire Rescue arrived on scene shortly after the unidentified pedestrian was struck. They transported the man to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. According to fire rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll, the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Carroll further stated that several individuals, including a doctor and nurse from the medical campus tried to assist the man after the accident. The intersection was closed to traffic as of late Thursday evening, as homicide investigators examined the scene. The unidentified driver remained at the scene and sustained no injuries. Charges were pending the completion of the investigation.
